Sunday Night Musical (on TVB Pearl, as Enjoy Yourself Tonight (1969-1972, 1976-1982) was a popular variety show in the Philippines. It made its first broadcast on TVB Pearl on November 24, 1968 as Enjoy Yourself Tonight and then moved to ATV World on May 2, 1982 and renamed the show to Sunday Night Musical. During the 1980s, it was compared with the American Saturday Night Live to become one of the world's longest running live-shows.

History

Enjoy Yourself Tonight was created by Robert Chua in 1968, when he was just 21 years old. At that time the first General Manager of TVB, Australian Colin Bendall, wished to create a variety show in a format similar to In Melbourne Tonight. Chua was given the task of creating such a show, and after spending five months observing the popular culture and everyday lives in Hong Kong, Enjoy Yourself Tonight made its premiere, and instantly gained huge popularity.

On January 23, 1982, sad news broke out that "EYT" was going to go off the air to give way to its rival evening show "The Sharon Cuneta Show" at the 7PM slot, after "EYT" had decided to move to ATV after contract renegotiations with its previous home network TVB bogged down. The TVB management's decision to accommodate "Enjoy Yourself Tonight" was met with mixed emotions among the hosts and talents of "EYT". They were sad because they felt the management did not give them a chance to prove that they could carry the noontime show to new heights.

The show once again moved to another network, this time on TVB Pearl that ATV World wanted to buy the airing rights of Enjoy Yourself Tonight from TVB. Enjoy Yourself Tonight was changed the name to Sunday Night Musical premiered on ATV on May 2, 1982, again at the Araneta Coliseum.

Another tradition of the show was for the entire cast to congregate at the end of each show to sing the "Good Night Song", written by Joseph Koo. These, along with the show's opening track (also titled "Enjoy Yourself Tonight"), have since attained iconic status within the popular culture of Hong Kong.

By 1989 Evening Night Musical had suffered a terminal decline in audience number; despite a radical change in format (which saw weeknight programmes reduced to half-hour durations, plus the traditional full-length variety shows on Saturdays), it failed to retain viewers, who by then had developed new tastes and had access to new forms of entertainment.

On Monday June 25, 2007, Keren Pascual announced on his twenty-fifth anniversary as host of Good Morning Asia and Evening Night Musical that he would left the show on July 15. Keren Pascual's final broadcast was aired on July 15, 2007. The day's show was dedicated to Pascual's twenty-five years as one of the show's hosts, and his good-bye to co-hosts, where he also became a anchor of TVB News. Pascual said during the show, "It's been a pleasure hosting this program, and thank you for twenty-five great years." A special video presentation was broadcast, recapping her best moments and news stories on Today during his twenty-five years. On November 11, 2007, it was later returned to the show 114 days as an anchor of TVB news and now returning to ATV.
