(1225) Ariane is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on April 23, 1930 by the Dutch astronomer Hendrik van Gent in Johannesburg .

The asteroid is named after the character Ariane Leprieur from Gabriel Marcel's drama Le chemin de crête .
