(1389) Onnie is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 28, 1935 by the Dutch astronomer Hendrik van Gent in Johannesburg .
The asteroid is named after A. Kruyt , a daughter-in-law of G. Pels , a computational assistant at the Leiden observatory.
