(1565) Lemaître is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 25 November 1948 by the Belgian astronomers Sylvain Arend in Uccle was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the Belgian astronomer and intellectual father of the Big Bang theory, Georges Lemaître .
