(2156) Kate is an asteroid of the main belt , which on September 23 in 1917 by the Russian astronomer Sergei Ivanovich Beliavsky at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in simeiz was discovered.
The asteroid is named after the wife of the Danish astronomer Leif Kahl Kristensen . Kristensen had done some of the asteroid's orbit calculations.
