(2731) Cucula is an asteroid of the main belt , which by the Swiss astronomer on 21 May 1982 Paul Wild , from zimmerwald observatory of the University of Bern in was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the cuckoo (Latin generic name Cuculus). The background is that the asteroid was discovered in May and the call of the bird from the nearby forest was heard in the observatory.
