(3228) Pire is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 8 February 1935 by Belgian astronomers Sylvain Arend in Uccle was discovered.

The asteroid was named in honor of Georges Pire , a Belgian Dominican monk who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1958 .
