(4472) Navashin is a main belt asteroid discovered on October 15, 1980 by Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory .

The asteroid was named after the Russian cell biologist and amateur astronomer Mikhail Sergeevich Navashin .
