(4980) Magomaev is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 19 September 1974 by the Russian astronomer Lyudmila Ivanovna Chernykh in the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory was discovered.
The name was given on March 5, 1996 after the Azerbaijani composer Müslüm Maqomayev (1942-2008).
