(52975) Cyllarus is an asteroid belonging to the group of centaurs .
It was discovered on October 12, 1998 by Nichole M. Danzl as part of the Spacewatch project at the Kitt Peak National Observatory ( IAU code 695) in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona .
It is named after the centaur Kyllaros , who was killed by a spear while fighting at the wedding party of the Lapith king Peirithoos .
