(869) Mellena is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on May 9, 1917 by the astronomer Richard Reinhard Emil Schorr in Hamburg-Bergedorf .
By naming the asteroid, the former mayor of Hamburg Werner von Melle was honored, who had campaigned for the founding of the Hamburg University .
