Ágúst Ólafur Ágústsson

Ágúst Ólafur Ágústsson (born March 10, 1977 in Hamburg ) is an Icelandic politician of the social democratic alliance .

Life

Ágúst Ólafur Ágústsson is a lawyer and economist with degrees from the University of Iceland and a Masters of Public Administration from New York University . Among other things, he worked as an advisor to the United Nations in New York from 2011 to 2012 and advised the then Icelandic Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir on economic and employment issues from 2012–2013 . From 2013 to 2017 he was a member of the board of directors of the Icelandic Central Bank .

For the first time Ágúst Ólafur Ágústsson was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing from 2003 to 2009 as a representative of the constituency of Reykjavík South . In the parliamentary election on October 28, 2017 , he was again elected as a candidate for the Alliance in this constituency. As of autumn 2018, he is a member of Parliament's Committee on Budgets and is Vice-Chair of the Icelandic delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union .

From 2005 to 2009 he was deputy party chairman of Allianz.
