Álvaro González , full name Álvaro Rafael González Luengo , (born October 29, 1984 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan - Italian football player .
Career
society
González began playing football in the so-called baby fútbol at Club Aviación Lezica. There he was twice champion of the La Teja-Capurro League . From there he moved to Defensor's youth team in 1995. There he was champion of the 5th, 4th and 3rd divisions with the same age group. In 2003 he made his debut in the Primera División . With the team, "Tata" (in English: ~ "Grandpa") González then won the Liguilla 2006. By 2007, he played 108 games in the Uruguayan tournament for Defensor and scored seven goals. In addition, he came in 14 games of the continental club competitions to train. In 2007 he moved to Argentina to the Boca Juniors . He made his debut on matchday 1, February 10, 2008 in a 1-1 draw against CA Rosario . This season he moved into the final of the FIFA Club World Cup with the Boca Juniors . The final was lost 2: 4 against AC Milan . This season he was also champion with the Boca Juniors and also won the Recopa Sudamericana . In 2009 González moved back to his homeland, to Nacional Montevideo. After just one year, he moved to Serie A at Lazio for the 2010/11 season . He made his debut for Lazio on September 18, 2010, the 3rd matchday in a 2-1 win over Fiorentina . At European level, González made his debut in the UEFA Europa League , the 2011/12 season in a 2-2 draw against FC Vaslui in the group stage. After he was initially more of a substitute player at Lazio and in his first season for the Romans was only eight times in his 19 first division games in the starting XI, he developed into a regular player in the following years. In 2011/12 he made 31 Serie A appearances (one goal) and seven Europa League games (no goal). In the 2012/13 season, in which González can boast 34 Serie A appearances (one goal) and eleven Europa League games including qualification (one goal), González won with Lazio after a 1-0 victory over the Roma , the Coppa Italia . In the 2013/14 season he played 25 times in the league (one goal). He has also played four Europa League games . During the 2014/15 season he was used four times (no goal) in Serie A, including his last game for Lazio on December 21, 2014. At the beginning of February 2015, he was loaned to the league competitor FC Turin with a purchase option. By the end of the season he played in four first division games (no goal) for Torino, who finished the season ninth in the table. In August 2015, he moved to the Mexican club Atlas Guadalajara, who was coached by Gustavo Matosas , for a year on loan . There he completed 16 first division games (no goal) and three cup games (no goal). The loan ended in mid-2016. In May, the club announced that it would no longer be employed and that the purchase option would not be withdrawn. Subsequently, his situation was initially unresolved. At Lazio he was no longer taken into account for the 2016/17 season. However, due to an injury mishap, he was apparently ordered back to the squad in October 2016. But it was no longer used by the Italians. In early February 2017, he rejoined Nacional Montevideo. He did not play a major role in the capital city and was often only brought in as a substitute. Thus, he joined the league competitor Defensor Sporting Club in 2019 . Here he had a regular place and played almost every game in the Primera División in 2019 .
National team
González made his debut on May 24, 2006 in the 2-0 win in the friendly against Romania under coach Óscar Tabárez in the Uruguayan senior team when he came on in the 72nd minute for Diego Pérez . He won the Copa America with Uruguay in 2011 . In 2013 González was part of the Confederations Cup squad . At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and at the 2015 Copa América in Chile , he was again part of the Uruguayan squad.
In total, including his last appearance to date, he made 60 international matches on November 12, 2015 and scored three international goals.
