Ángel Herrero (football player, 1942)
Ángel Herrero Morales (born March 1, 1942 in Zamora , † January 12, 2014 ) was a Spanish football player .
Athletic career
Herrero came from the youth of Real Madrid and played temporarily for the reserve team Plus Ultra . As a midfielder , he made his debut in 1962 for the newly promoted UP Langreo in the Segunda División . There he was a regular player for long periods and scored seven goals in 27 games, after just one season he moved on to Racing Santander within the league . There, however, he was not granted the breakthrough and after only six missions he moved to Atlético Ceuta in the summer of 1964 , where he remained completely without a stake.
In 1965 Herrero first returned to Madrid to compete for the second division club Rayo Vallecano . With the promoted team, he placed ninth and sixth in the table. In 1967 he moved to league rivals Sporting Gijón . He stayed here for six years and made the leap to first class in 1970. In the Primera División he played 87 games by the end of his career in 1973, a goal in the highest Spanish league was denied to the now acting as a defender Herrero.
After the end of his career, Herrero stayed in Gijón. He succumbed to pulmonary edema at the age of 71 .
