Ángel Ossorio y Gallardo
Ángel Ossorio y Gallardo (born June 20, 1873 in Madrid , † May 19, 1946 in Buenos Aires ) was a Spanish politician, lawyer and writer.
Life
As a member of the Conservative Party ( Partido Conservador ), he became Governor of Barcelona in 1909 and Minister for Development ( Fomento ) in 1917 . He opposed the dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera and supported the abdication of Alfonso XIII. and the proclamation of the Second Republic . He was involved in the drafting of the Constitution of the Second Republic and was Ambassador of the Spanish Republic in Belgium, France and Argentina. After the end of the Spanish Civil War , he settled permanently in Buenos Aires and in 1945 became a minister without special responsibilities in the government-in-exile under José Giral Pereira . He was President of the Academy of Jurisprudence and the Athenaeum of Madrid and Dean of the College of Lawyers. Especially in the last years of his life he wrote numerous works on jurisprudence and constitutional law.
