Ásta Guðrún Helgadóttir (German transcription Asta Gudrun Helgadottir , born February 5, 1990 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician of the Icelandic pirate party Píratar .

Ásta Guðrún earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Iceland in 2014 and studied philosophy at the University of Warsaw and Persian at the University of Tehran .

After Jón Þór Ólafsson's resignation in the summer of 2015, Ásta Guðrún Helgadóttir took his seat in the Icelandic parliament Althing . She was a representative of the Reykjavík South constituency and was a member of Parliament's Committee on Environment and Communications from 2015 to 2016. In the early parliamentary elections on October 29, 2016 , she was able to keep her seat. Since 2017 she has been a member of the Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs.

At the end of January 2017, Ásta Guðrún Helgadóttir succeeded Birgitta Jónsdóttir as leader of the Píratar parliamentary group in the Althing, but she resigned from this position in May 2017 due to differences of opinion between her and the parliamentary majority regarding the organization of the parliamentary group. Her successor as group leader was initially Einar Brynjólfsson , now (as of September 2017) Birgitta Jónsdóttir has held this office again.

Ásta Guðrún Helgadóttir had announced that he would no longer run for the early parliamentary elections in 2017, or only one of the last ones, and has not been a member of the Althing since the 2017 election.
