Åke Fridell (born June 23, 1919 in Gävle , † August 26, 1985 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish actor .

life and work

Åke Fridell grew up in Falun , Dalarna . Between 1942 and 1944 he attended the Witzansky Theater School and took singing lessons. In 1943 he made his debut in Ingmar Bergman's play Tivoli . He played at the City Theater in Helsingborg from 1944 to 1946, at the City Theater in Malmö from 1954 to 1960 and at the City Theater in Stockholm from 1960 to the 1970s. In the course of his career, in addition to numerous other engagements, he appeared in 30 theater productions and ten films by Bergman. His specialty was the portrayal of boisterous and boastful characters or simple minds. One of his most prominent roles was that of the blacksmith Plog in Bergman's The Seventh Seal (1957).
