Ålidhem is a residential area in the Swedish city ​​of Umeå, very close to Umeå University and the University Hospital . Mainly students live here .

history

Ålidhem was built as part of the million dollar program . Ålidhem is currently in the headlines for a controversial mosque that is planned to be built right next to Ålidhem Church ( Ålidhemskyrka ).

In Ålidhem is the Fysikgränd , where students celebrate wildly every year at the end of May during the Brännbollsyran . During the 1970s the area was popularly known as Röda Ålidhem ("red Ålidhem") because of the large demonstrations with socialist sympathizers. A popular song about Ålidhem is " Hem ljuva hem ljuva Ålidhem ".

All the paths and streets in Ålidhem are labeled using academic terms. Examples of this are Matematikgränd , Geografigränd , Candidatvägen , Språkgränd , Laboratorvägen , Magistervägen , Scholarship Gränd or Historiegränd .
