Åsa Elisabeth Mogensen (born June 21, 1972 ; born Åsa Elisabeth Eriksson ) is a former Swedish handball player .

Career

Mogensen initially played for Skånela IF , with whom she won the championship in 1992. After the backcourt player went hunting for goals for the Norwegian club Larvik HK in the 1992/93 season , she then returned to Sweden for the first division club Sävsjö HK , with whom she became champions in 1994, 1995 and 1996.

Mogensen ran from 1996 to 2001 for the Danish first division club Ikast-Bording EH . With Ikast, she won the championship in 1998 and 2001 and the Euro City Cup in 1998 . In the 2001/02 season she played for the Spanish first division club BM Remudas . She then signed a contract with the Danish first division club Horsens HK . After the 2004/05 season, she ended her career there. In autumn 2005 she made a short comeback at Ikast-Bording EH, as Ikast had to do without his playmaker Gro Hammerseng-Edin due to an injury . In 2006 she played nine more games at the relegation-threatened Norwegian first division club Levanger HK .

With 251 international matches, Mogensen is the record player for the Swedish national team . With 1,087 international goals, she scored the second most goals for the Swedish selection. At the 2001 World Cup , she finished fifth on the top scorer list with 50 goals.

After her active career, she stayed with handball as a trainer. She is the holder of the international trainer license EHF Master Coach . From 2005 to 2007 she coached a youth team at Horsens HK. In 2007 she worked as an assistant coach for the second division Hadsten and from 2007 to 2009 for the first division Ikast-Bording EH. From 2005 she worked for the Swedish handball federation as a coach of the youth national team for many years.
