history

Æther Realm was founded in June 2010 in Greenville , North Carolina , and consisted of singer and bassist Vincent Jones, guitarist Heinrich Arnold and drummer Tyler Gresham. The following year, Jack Rodriguez-Dougherty joined the trio as a second guitarist, who was in turn replaced by Donny Burbage on guitar in mid-2014.

In July 2011, the band moved into Basement Studios and recorded a two-track demo called Odin Will Provide with Jamie King, who worked with groups such as Wretched , The Human Abstract and Between the Buried and Me . In January 2012, the group began again with King to work on their debut album One Chosen by the Gods . In May of the same year, the musicians released Swampwitch , the first piece from the album. The album itself was released in January 2013. In 2017 Æther Realm released their second album Tarot , whose piece The Sun, the Moon, the Stars in the gaming scene through the game osu! Could gain notoriety.

In November 2018 the Austrian metal label Napalm Records announced that they had signed Æther Realm. On February 21, 2020, the band announced the release of their now third studio album Redneck Vikings from Hell for May 1 of the same year. It is also the group's first album to be released on Napalm Records.

The band toured the United States as opening act for Gloryhammer from June 4 to 18, 2019 . This was their second national tour after the Super Smashed Turbo Tour , which took place from October 2nd to 31st, 2016 together with Alestorm and Nekrogoblikon and also featured six concerts in Canada . In September and October 2017, the group played their first European tour in the opening act of Alestorm, which was also accompanied by Troldhaugen .

In mid-July 2020, the band announced that they would reissue their 2017 album Tarot on September 11th via Napalm Records. The new edition of the album receives a new artwork as well as a bonus song with the song The Magician , which was previously released as a stand-alone single.

style

Æther Realm play Melodic Death Metal , reminiscent of Wintersun , Ensiferum , Turisas and Kalmah . The music is described as "fast, extremely melodic Death Metal with folk influences". The musicians work with symphonies in their music . Tarot , the second album by the American quartet, sounds varied and epic and is bursting with melodic flights of fancy and vitality.

In addition to the prevailing growls , the musicians also use calm, clear vocals. On the instrumental level, piano parts, various folk elements and even a short intro reminiscent of video game music are used.
