Édouard Souleymane Leopold Cissé (born March 30, 1978 in Pau , France ) is a former French- Senegalese football player .
Career
As a youth, Cissé played at AS Billère from 1986 to 1994 before moving to the Pau football club , where he started his professional career in 1996 and played 3 games for the club. But the following year he signed with the French capital club Paris Saint-Germain , with which he was under contract until 2007. On October 5, 1997, he played his first Ligue 1 game against FC Nantes . During the following years, however, he was loaned to other clubs several times. He played for Stade Rennes in the 1998/1999 season , played for West Ham United in England in 2002/03 and wore the AS Monaco jersey the following season . With the Monegasque he reached the UEFA Champions League final and 3rd place in Ligue 1 .
After a ten-year contract in Paris, the club decided to sell him in the summer of 2007. For the 2007/08 season, Cissé moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul . He signed there for three years. He played his first game on August 11, 2007 against Konyaspor , where he came on in the 81st minute for Koray Avcı . His first goal was on January 5, 2008 in the cup game against Diyarbakir Büyüksehir Belediyesi Diski Spor.
