Élie Semoun (real name: Elie Semhoun , born October 16, 1963 in Antony ) is a French humorist, author, writer and singer.

Life

Semoun was born into a Jewish-Moroccan family. At the age of 17 he had already written two collections of poetry and two plays ( La Pièce décousue and La Pièce d'identité , German: The separated piece and the identity card ). His career as a humorist began in 1990 with his colleague Dieudonné . He made his first appearance in 1991 in the legendary Café de la Gare . This was followed by successful appearances at the Splendid, the Palais des Glaces and the Casino de Paris. Semoun and Dieudonné formed one of the most popular comedy duos of the 1990s. In 1997 the duo split up. Semoun has had a complicated and tense relationship with his former colleague since the split. First enemies, then reconciled, they diverged again on the occasion of public polemics provoked by Dieudonné's political statements.

Semoun remained successful with Les petites annonces (German: classifieds ) with Franck Dubosc and appeared with his one-man show Élie et Semoun (German: Élie and Semoun ). He supported Bertrand Delanoë in the 2001 Paris mayoral election and Lionel Jospin in the 2002 presidential election. In 2003, he released the French variety album Chansons . At the beginning of 2005 came his new piece Élie Semoun se prend pour qui ? , composed with Franck Dubosc and Muriel Robin . (German: Who is Élie Semoun for? ) out. In 2007 his new album Sur le fil (German: On the thread ) came out. In the summer of 2007 he last played his performance Élie Semoun se prend pour qui? in the arenas of Doué-la-Fontaine on the occasion of the Anjou Festival . In 2008, jokes by Élie Semoun were published on the inside of the packaging of the French Carambar chewy candies, which are also used in the candy marketing concept. He made guest appearances in films, among others, in the comedies 15 ans et demi… (2008) and Monsieur Claude and his daughters (2014).

Semoun is Patrick Bruel's first cousin .
