Émilie Fillion (born June 10, 1990 in Montreal ) is a former Canadian soccer player .
Life
The Montreal-born Fillion grew up with her younger brother Maxime (ice hockey player for the Saint Hubert Jets) in neighboring Saint-Hubert , Québec . She attended the Collège Édouard-Montpetit in Longueuil from 2004 to 2005 and the Collège Français from 2006 to 2008 , before enrolling at Wright State University in 2008 .
Soccer career
In the club
Fillion started her career in 2003 with the Rive Sun team in the Association Régionale de Soccer de la Rive-Sud and played in various teams in the province of Québec . During her school days she played for the CEGEP Edouard-Montpetit Lynx and for two years for the Français Titans, the Athletic Team of the Collège Français. In the fall of 2008, after graduating from high school, she began playing soccer for the Wright State Raiders. There she played for Dayton Dutch Lions FC during the 2012 semester break . In her sophomore year with the Dayton Dutch Lions, she became her team's W-League captain at the start of the 2013 season . After the end of the 2013 USL W-League season, she returned to Wright State University and played a quarter of a year for the Raiders. During the 2014 semester break, she went to Europe for the first time and played for FC Twente Enschede in the Netherlands . During that time she scored three goals in seven games for Twente in the BeNe League before returning to Canada for Laval Comets in the summer of 2014. Upon her return, she scored two goals in five games for the Comets. On October 8, 2014, Fillion returned to Europe and signed with the women's Bundesliga team MSV Duisburg . After a season and the relegation of MSV Duisburg, she left the club. She returned to the Laval Comets in the W-League in July 2015 and ended her career there in 2016 when she left the W-League.
National team
Fillion ran in 2005 alongside Mélissa Busque in the Canadian U-15 national football team. During this time, she completed a three-month training camp for the team in Leipzig in autumn 2005 .
Basketball career
During her college years at the Collège Édouard-Montpetit, Fillion played active shooting guard basketball for the CEGEP Edouard-Montpetit Lynx for two years .
Personal
Since 2016 she has been the beer sommelier for the German beer manufacturer Krombacher in Montreal .
