The Budapesti Építők SC is a Hungarian sports club from Budapest , which was founded on October 1, 1922 as a workers' sports club under the name Magyarországi Építőipari Munkásszervezet Országos Szövetsége Sport Clubjának (MÉMOSZ SC). During the Second World War , the club was banned before it was revived under its current name in May 1945. In the following years other clubs were founded under this name throughout Hungary, all of which belonged to the national sports organization Építők Országos SE .
The club used to be known for its canoeing , handball , table tennis , chess , field hockey and ice hockey departments . Today the association operates sports such as fencing , tennis , beach volleyball , aerobics and maintains a sports center with several sports halls and facilities ( Építők Sporttelepe ) in Budapest.
Handball
The club's teams took part in the European Women's Cup Winners' Cup several times . The women also won the Hungarian championship title several times, including 1989, 1990 and 1991, as well as the Hungarian Cup competition .
Table tennis
The club's women's team won the ETTU Cup between 1968 and 1970 (three times in a row) and 1975 .
ice Hockey
The club's ice hockey team took part in the game of the highest Hungarian ice hockey league from 1950 to 1971 .
Field hockey
The club's field hockey teams belonged to the highest Hungarian field hockey league for many years. Today these are organized in a separate association, the Építők HC .
