Ólafur Bjarki Ragnarsson (born July 12, 1988 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic handball player .

Career

Ólafur Bjarki Ragnarsson played for the Icelandic club HK Kópavogur , with which he became Icelandic champion in 2012. For the 2012/13 season, the 1.86 meter tall backcourt player moved to Germany in the 2nd handball Bundesliga for TV Emsdetten , with whom he was promoted to the 1st division in 2013. From the 2015/16 season he played for the Bundesliga club ThSV Eisenach . Since summer 2017 he has been under contract with the Austrian first division club SG INSIGNIS Handball West Vienna . In his first year in Austria , the Icelander was honored by the Handball League Austria as “Legionnaire of the Year” and best backcourt middle player.

Ólafur Bjarki Ragnarsson is a member of the Icelandic national team , with which he took part in the 2012 European Championships in Serbia and the Olympic Games in London .

In Iceland, he was voted best player of the season in 2011 and 2012.
