The ÖBB 2080 and 2180 are snow blowers of the ÖBB .

history

Around 1970 the ÖBB had a large number of air-conditioned snow plows and seven Henschel steam snow blowers at their disposal. However, these snow clearing vehicles no longer met the technical requirements and, moreover, they could not be used to clear the tracks ideally. It was decided to buy new clearing vehicles. Beilhack vehicles were selected from the offers from Beilhack and Rolba . On December 16, 1975 the first HB 800 S snow blower was put into operation as the 2080.001 and on January 5, 1983 a second machine (HB 900 S) as the 2180.001. The only difference between the two is the engine output - the 2180.001 has 41 kW more output.

The vehicles have now been renumbered as X 491 001-4 (99 81 9491 001-9) and X 492 002-7 (99 81 9491 002-7) as part of the UIC labeling .

construction

The vehicle bridge , centrifugal attachment , driver's cab and engine box form a movable unit - this can be rotated 180 ° if necessary. The mobile unit is connected to the mobile undercarriage. The cab has two doors and can accommodate up to 12 men. The driver's cab allows an excellent all-round view, the front windows have sling discs . In contrast to the 2080, the 2180 has no engine room doors, but only grilles on the side, which leads to higher noise emissions.

technology

The two snow blowers have a twelve-cylinder four-stroke engine. With the help of an additional gearbox, you can choose between a work gear (20 km / h) and an overdrive gear (80 km / h). The power is transmitted by means of a vertical shaft that drives the telescopic shafts via two angular gears, which in turn drive the wheel sets .

The maximum speed of the centrifugal wheels is 392 revolutions per minute - the speed is selected mechanically. The clearing capacity per hour is 12,700 tons.

commitment

The 2080.001 is stationed in Landeck and the 2180.001 in Wörgl. Both snow removal vehicles are used as required.
