In 1970, the history teacher Karl Benda discovered the dilapidated building and founded the Association for the Preservation of the Tiengen Oil Mill. The grinder and press have been put into operation as part of demonstrations since 1999. The water power for the overshot waterwheel is supplied by the Talbach, which is then called Mühlbach, Ölbach or Stadtbach depending on the plant it drives.
