The presidential office is the administrative office ( auxiliary apparatus ) set up to support the Austrian Federal President . It has been housed in the Leopoldine wing of the Vienna Hofburg since October 1946 . The name Presidential Chancellery is also synonymous with the official seat of the Federal President located there.

The firm is divided into different "groups": group European and International Affairs, Protocol and organization , group legal, social and administrative matters , Group domestic and adjutant of the President . A resolution by the Federal President ( Federal Law Gazette II No. 87/2008 ) regulates the rules of procedure of the presidential chancellery .

The presidential chancellery is headed by the cabinet director, in his absence the cabinet vice director. The cabinet director reports directly to the Federal President. Outstanding among the cabinet directors was Wilhelm Klastersky , after whom an alley in Vienna-Favoriten was named .
