The vehicles of the ČD series 814 are low-floor diesel multiple units of the Czech railway company České dráhy (ČD) for regional transport. They were created as part of a reconstruction program from the vehicles of the ČD series 810 . They are marketed by ČD as "Regionova".
history
In 2005, as a further development of the prototype 812.613 from two railcars of the 810 series and two series 010 sidecars, the advance vehicles were created at Pars Nova , which have since been tested in practical use under real operating conditions on various routes of the České dráhy. In contrast to the Esmeralda prototype , the unit consists of a railcar with the series designation 814 and a control car with the series designation 914, which are closely coupled to each other.
The use of the vehicle results above all in energy savings, a higher traction speed and thus a tightening of the timetables. At the international vehicle fair in Brno in October 2005, the unit received the organizer's gold medal. The vehicles u. a. also prove in tests on the steep Tanvald – Kořenov stretch.
In addition to ČD, the private railway company Železnice Desná also acquired a unit. Since České dráhy has been operating again since 2016, this unit was sold to GW Train Regio .
Series 814.2
The 814.2 series is a further development of the 814.0 series. Instead of a motor car and a control car, the railcar is equipped with two motor cars and an intermediate car. The three-part trains offer 127 seats instead of 76 seats for the two-part cars. Class 814.2 railcars have been in service since 2007.
technical features
Significant changes compared to the original design are a new, more powerful drive system with the diesel engine LIAZ ML 640 SE and the hydromechanical gearbox VOITH DIWA 864.3E , a more comfortable interior with handicapped accessible toilet, better working conditions for the train driver, better driving characteristics and lower environmental impact of the drive system. The Regionova are still equipped with a screw coupling and can therefore be freely coupled with other vehicles.
The control car, which has a 50% low-floor area, contains the load compartment, an access ramp for wheelchairs, the toilet and 34 seats. The railcar, built at normal floor height, has passenger compartments with 50 seats.
