Svazek obcí údolí Desné (SOÚD; German: Association of communities in the Tess Valley ) is a community association in the Jeseníky Mountains in the Czech Republic . Members of the association are the municipalities of Vikýřovice , Rapotín , Velké Losiny , Loučná nad Desnou , Sobotín , Rejchartice , Hraběšice and Vernířovice in the Desná valley . The municipal association owns the Šumperk – Sobotín and Petrov nad Desnou – Kouty nad Desnou railway lines , which are jointly marketed under the name Železnice Desná (ŽD). There is also cooperation in the areas of education and tourism.
history
The municipal association was founded on October 16, 1997 on the initiative of the mayor of Rapotín to achieve the reconstruction of the Šumperk – Sobotín and Petrov nad Desnou – Kouty nad Desnou branch lines, which were badly damaged on July 7, 1997 after a flood. The Czech Ministry of Transport planned to close the lines because of the high reconstruction costs and operational losses. The community association finally acquired both lines and the vehicles required for rail operations. The private construction company Stavební obnova železnic as undertook the reconstruction. The lines went back into service on April 30, 1998 (Šumperk – Sobotín) and December 1, 1998 (Petrov nad Desnou – Kouty nad Desnou).
Železnice Desná
Today Železnice Desná is the marketing name for the two railway lines of the municipal association. Stavební obnova železnic was initially responsible for operational management, and Connex Morava (now Arriva Morava ) has been the commissioned railway company for passenger transport since October 1, 2002 . The company SART - stavby a rekonstrukce as, a local construction company, is in charge since 2005 railway infrastructure companies . Freight traffic has been operated by České dráhy since May 1, 2005 and by ČD Cargo since December 1, 2007 . The tariff and transport regulations of the transport association in the Olomoucký kraj (Integrovaný dopravní systém Olomouckého kraje; IDSOK) apply on the trains of the Železnice Desná .
Since December 2016, passenger trains from the state-owned railway company České dráhy (ČD) have been using the railway lines of the municipal association again . The municipal association's railway vehicles that were no longer needed were sold to AŽD Praha in January 2017 . Since April 2017, they have been in use as planned in tourist traffic on the Čížkovice – Obrnice railway line , and they also serve as test vehicles for new types of railway safety technology. The railcar unit 814 501 was sold to GW Train Regio .
