The steam locomotive series ÖNWB XVIb were fast - locomotives of the Austrian Northwest Railway (ÖNWB).

The eight machines were supplied by the StEG 1901 locomotive factory to the ÖNWB, which designated the compound machines as the  XVIb series. The order for a wet steam variant did not come about, so that row XVIa was not occupied. The XVIb series had to be faster than the StEG express train machines so that the ÖNWB could compete with them. In fact, it was more powerful than comparable older series of the Kaiser-Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB) and kk Austrian State Railways ( 6 , 106 and 206 ). The boiler was like that of the ÖNWB XIV , the cylinders were like those of the kkStB 106 .

After the nationalization in 1909, the kkStB designated the locomotives of this series as series  208 .

After the First World War , all of the machines came to the ČSD , which they classified as series  264.4 and which were eliminated until 1937.
