The steam locomotive series kkStB 910 was an express train - Tender Locomotive series of Imperial Austrian State Railways (kkStB).

history

For the weak superstructure of nationalized private railways, the kkStB needed express locomotives that were lighter than the 110 and 10 series  . Karl Gölsdorf constructed the 910 series  in the middle of World War I using essential components from the 10 and  429.9 series . The boiler essentially came from the 429.9, the drive wheels from the 10. The leading Krauss-Helmoltz frame came from the 310 series  , and for weight reasons it had to provide wheels with a smaller diameter for the rear Adams axle. The 910 series was Gölsdorf's last construction.

The machines developed 1180 hp and reached 120 km / h without any problems, but were only approved for 90 km / h for braking reasons and to avoid bearing damage. The series, comprising 22 pieces, was supplied by the Floridsdorf locomotive factory from 1916 to 1918. They were used before the Balkansug , which replaced the Orient Express , which was discontinued at the beginning of the war , and thus set a European long-distance record of the time.

After the First World War, the 910 series came closed to ČSD , which it designated as 364.0 . They were used from Tetschen in front of light express trains to Prague and Nimburg and from Lundenburg to Brno and Prerau . In order to avoid water overflow, the ČSD installed two higher steam domes connected by a pipe. They were later stationed in Bodenbach , from where they pulled passenger trains to Prague, Nimburg and Komotau .

In the course of the Second World War all machines came to the DR , which gave them the numbers 35 501-522 . All survived the war, but were left with the ČSD until 1950.

Others

This series can be seen as the direct predecessor of the ČSD series 365.0 , which was delivered to ČSD by the First Bohemian-Moravian Machine Factory from 1921.
