The ČSD series E 422.0 (from 1988: series 100 ) is an electric baggage locomotive for the local railways of the former Czechoslovak state railways ČSD, electrified with 1.5 kV direct current .
history
The locomotives replaced the outdated vehicle fleet of the local railways Tábor – Bechyně and Rybník – Lipno nad Vltavou from 1903 to 1941 . In addition, for the construction of the Lipno dam, the local railway leading to it for the transport of building materials was fundamentally expanded and converted from 1200 V to 1500 V direct current, so that a renewal of the vehicle fleet was inevitable.
The development of the new locomotive began in the late 1940s. The official order was made in 1955 from Škoda in Pilsen . In 1956 and 1957 the four machines were put into service. Škoda used many design details of the class E 499.0 locomotive in its manufacture . As a special feature, the locomotive was given an externally accessible luggage compartment, which soon after its appearance earned it the nickname "kapesní Bobina". Thus, the appearance of the locomotive is like a scaled-down relative of the 1st generation of Škoda locomotives. In contrast to the E 499.0 , this locomotive was not subject to a license.
The locomotives always provided service on the local railways mentioned. In 1988 they were given the new series designation 100. With the conversion of the local railway to Lipno to a contact line voltage of 25 kV / 50 Hz, the locomotives lost their last operational area in 2003 and the series was completely retired. The E 422.0001 will be kept as an operational museum locomotive of the ČD, the E 422.0003 belongs to the inventory of the Railway Museum Lužná u Rakovníka .
After the main inspection was carried out in May 2016, the latter was used together with two old apron cars in July and August in regular passenger train service on weekends.
technical features
The two two-axle bogies emerged from those of the other 1st generation locomotives. Each axle had a drive motor with a single-sided drive. The locomotive body was a box-shaped construction, supported by coil and leaf springs on the bogies. The braking system was composed of a handbrake, a compressed air brake (direct and indirect) and an electrodynamic brake. With the traction motors, two motors were connected in series as a group in the bogie. This group could be connected either in series or in parallel. The power was regulated by resistance control with 24 levels with serial control and 16 levels with serial parallel control.
