The railcars were developed and built by Škoda in Pilsen between 1934 and 1936 . A total of 14 of these vehicles were produced in three series.

With the series production of the M 262.0 railcars , the vehicles were taken out of service. The last railcar was retired in 1959.

In terms of structure, the vehicles were similar to the M 262.0 series railcars purchased in large numbers after the Second World War. On one side of the four-axle car body was the drive system with the six-cylinder diesel engine and the electric generator. The electric traction motors were in the bogie on the other side of the car body.
