The Černá hora (German: Schwarzberg ) is a mountain in the Bohemian Forest , Czech Republic .

location

The summit of the mountain reaches a height of 1315  m nm and is about 1 km north of the border with Bavaria . The administrative border between the municipalities of Modrava and Kvilda ( Aussergefild ) runs from west to south over the summit , which also delimits Plzeňský kraj (i.e. West Bohemia) to South Bohemia .

To the east of it rise the Stráž ( Postberg , 1308  m nm ) with its secondary peaks Holý vrch ( Hohebretterberg , 1294  m nm ) and the Siebensteinkopf ( 1263  m ) located 200 m south of the Bohemian-Bavarian border . To the north, the Schwarzberg is separated by the high moor Černohorský močál ( Markfilz ) located at 1175  m nm from the 1244  m nm high Čertův vrch ( Steinköpfel ) and its sub-peak Tetřev ( Hanifberg , 1260  m nm ). Other peaks nearby are:

  • 4 km south west lying Velká Mokrůvka ( Moorberg , 1370  m nm ) which is the highest elevation of the Pilsner circuit and a secondary peak of Lusen ( 1373  m is) in Bavaria.
  • the 8 km to the west lying Plattenhausenriegel ( 1376  m ) with its Bohemian secondary summit Blatný vrch ( 1367  m nm )

Below the steep eastern slope is a moorland in which the Teplá Vltava ( Warm Vltava ) rises at an altitude of 1170  m nm . The Reschbach rises on the southern slope and flows around the next Bavarian town of Finsterau to the west below the Ederplatten ( 1065  m ) .

The closest places are Kvilda ( Aussergefild ), 5 km northeast, and Finsterau, 6 km south.

Hiking trails and a ski hiking trail on the Šumavská magistrála (Bohemian Forest Highway) do not lead to the summit of the Black Mountain, but cross its southern flank parallel to the state border.
