Vltava source

The Warm Vltava ( Teplá Vltava in Czech ) is the left source river of the Vltava in the Czech Republic . It is considered the main source river of the Vltava.

course

The Warm Vltava rises 500 m north of the Bavarian-Czech border on the southeast slope of the Černá hora ( Schwarzberg , 1315 m nm) in the Bohemian Forest . Its source is to the west above the Siebenfilz moor in the Pramen Vltavy natural monument ; The Reschbach rises 300 m to the southeast . After approx. 50 m the brook disappears in Siebenfilz and leaves the moorland between the Černá hora, the Stráž ( Postberg , 1308 m nm) and the Holý vrch ( Hochbretterberg , 1284 m nm) with significantly more water than Černý potok ( Schwarzbach ) North. The further course of the brook runs east past the Čertův vrch (1244 m nm); at Tetřev ( Hanefberg , 1260 m nm) it takes northeast direction and flows through the desert Hraběcí Huť ( Count's Hut ). Between Hamerské Domky ( Hammer houses ) and Kvilda the turns Černý Potok sharply to the southeast and the direction of flow follows its tributary Kvildský Potok. At Vilémov the valley of the Černý potok is protected as a natural monument Vltavské stráně . Then the stream north of the Stanová hora ( table mountain , 1159 m nm) and south of the Janská hora ( forest crest , 1112 m nm) and the Kamenáč ( Martin Luther Mountain , 1048 m nm) forms a deeply cut valley in which the place Františkov ( Franzensthal ) lies. The further course of the Warm Vltava leads over Svinná Lada ( Seehaid ), České Chalupy, Borová Lada , Zahrádky ( Mehregarten ), Pravětínská Lada ( Gansauerhaid ), Březová Lada ( Birkenhaid ) and Slatina ( Filz ) to Polka ( Elendbachl ), where the brook takes northeast direction. Past Anenský Dvůr and Račí ( Mitterberg ) the warm Vltava flows through Horní Vltavice and there it continues its course to the southeast. The villages Havránka ( Rabenhütte ), Nová Horní Vltavice, Zátoň ( Schattawa ), Stará Rachota ( Wachtveitl ), Houžná ( Hüblern ), Lenora and Vlčí Jámy ( Wolfsgrub ) lie along the further course . On the lower reaches, the Warm Vltava meanders in a shallow and wide valley through extensive moorland areas, which have been placed under protection as the " Malá niva " natural monument , the " Velká niva " national nature reserve and the "Vltavský luh" natural monument. The Warm Vltava flows past Soumarský Most ( Säumerbrück ) and Dobrá ( Guthausen ) through the Mrtvý luh ( Tote Au or Filzau ). To the west of Chlum ( Humwald ) it joins after 56 km with the Cold Vltava to form the Vltava .

Between Lenora and Dobrá the Strakonice – Volary railway runs on the left side of the Warm Vltava. At the station "Dobrá na Šumavě" the railway line Číčenice - Haidmühle bridges the river.
