history

Hrádek has been the seat of Vladikens since 1285 . Since 1400 Hermann von Říčany owned the Hradek fortress. After the Amschelberg family died out in the Hussite Wars , the lords of Herreníčany acquired Kosova Hora in 1474 and made it the center of their rule. In 1508 Bohuslav Břekovec from Ostromeč became the owner of Hrádek, which was first called Červený Hrádek at that time . In 1560 Sigmund Valkoun bought Adlar Červený Hrádek. When he died in 1572, his widow Magdalena von Říčany sold the property to Jan Prostiborský from Vrtba . The Vrtba held the property beyond the turmoil of the Thirty Years War until 1670, after which Anna Susanna Kühn from Meggau Rothhradek acquired. In 1675 the fortress was badly damaged by fire. The owner was so indebted for the reconstruction and conversion to the castle that she had to cede her goods to the creditor Nikolaus Franchimont von Frankenfeld. Subsequently, the owners changed in quick succession and finally Červený Hrádek was affiliated to Kosova Hora. The old fortress lost its purpose as a noble residence and was converted into accommodation for the lordly servants.

In 1837 František Mladota von Solopisk became the owner of the Amschelberg estate. He moved the seat back to Červený Hrádek, and in 1844 the fortress was converted into a neo-Gothic chateau.

After the abolition of patrimonial Červený Hrádek became an independent municipality in the Sedlčany district in 1850. In 1869 the place merged with Kosová Hora .

From 1930 Červený Hrádek again formed its own municipality, to which the districts Janov, Lhotka, Přibýška and Vítěž belonged. During the territorial reform of 1960, the community was dissolved. Červený Hrádek became a district of Sedlčany in Okres Příbram and finally in 1981 the district Vítěž was added.

Červený Hrádek Castle

The neo-Gothic building, which emerged from the fortress in 1844, was expanded between 1894 and 1896 by the architect Jan Kotěra with an Art Nouveau south wing. This also resulted in the large tower extension.

After the communists came to power in 1948, the Mladota family was expropriated from Solopisk and the chateau served as the Sedlčany Town Museum and the archive of the District National Committee (Okresní národní výbor) in Příbram .

In 1992 the Mladota family got the castle back and began to repair the dilapidated structure. It is only open to the public to a limited extent and on special dates.
