The Ratzenkoppe ( Polish Świstowa Czuba ) is a mountain in the Polish High Tatras with an altitude of 1763 m npm
Location and surroundings
Below the summit is the valley, the Roztokatal in the north.
The Ratzenkoppe is separated from the summit of the Brandkoppe ( Opalony Wierch ) by the Ratzkoppe ( Świstowy Przechód ).
etymology
The name Świstowa Czuba can be translated as marmot head , which is also what the Zipser German name refers to.
tourism
The Ratzenkoppe is popular with hikers because it is easy to climb. However, no hiking trail leads to the highest point of the summit. The hiking trail now leads a few meters below the summit. It was relocated after numerous fatal falls on its 200 meter high north face occurred on the summit.
Routes to the summit
A high path leads below the summit:
- ▬ The blue hiking trail from the Schronisko PTTK nad Morskim Okiem refuge to the Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów Polskich . The trail is not particularly difficult. However, the climb is dangerous because of the high edge of the summit, which is not immediately recognizable from the hiking trail.
