The Five Polish Lakes Hut ( Polish: Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów Polskich ) is located at an altitude of 1671  m npm in Poland in the High Tatras in the Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich valley on a glacial moraine above the Przedni Staw Polski mountain lake . It is the highest shelter in Poland. The area belongs to the Bukowina Tatrzańska commune , but the mountain hut has an address in Zakopane .

history

The first hut was built around 1637 when King Władysław IV Wasa gave the valley to the Nowobilski family. The first refuge was built in 1876 by the Tatra Society. The current hut is the fifth or sixth hut at this point and dates from 1953. It was named after Leopold Świerz . The hut has been in the Tatra National Park since 1954 . It is owned by the PTTK .
