The type Ryn (also type Rhine ) is a type of coaster from the Slovak shipyard Slovenské Lodenice in Komárno on the Danube .

Six units of this type of ship were built for the Wessels shipping company in Haren (Ems) and three units for Rohden ship management in Hamburg .

The drive of the vessels carried by a Deutz-MWM - diesel engine of the type SBV 8 M / 628 1,500  kW power . The motor acts on a fixed propeller via a reduction gear . The ships reach a speed of around 10.5  knots . The ships are equipped with a bow thruster with 185 kW power.

Three MAN diesel generators (type: D 2866 E) are available for power generation. A Deutz diesel generator (type: F6L 912 D) was installed as an emergency generator .

The superstructure is located in the aft area of ​​the ships. The bridge house is separated from the deck house and is hydraulically height adjustable. The masts are foldable. The ships are thus able to cross bridges on rivers and canals. A box-shaped cargo hold is located in front of the superstructure and is closed with folding hatch covers consisting of eight segments that can be moved hydraulically. The cargo area is 56.66 meters long, 10.20 meters wide and 8.13 meters high. The capacity is 4,615 m³. The ships are equipped with two bulkheads with which the hold can be divided. The bulkheads can be erected in eleven positions. If they are not required, the bulkheads can be placed at the end of the hold. The usable length of the cargo space is reduced by around 1.50 m.

The tank top can be loaded with 15 t / m², the hatch cover with 1.56 t / m².

The ships are equipped for the transport of containers . The container capacity is 176  TEU . There is space for 108 TEU in the room, 68 TEU on deck, whereby the total weight of a stack of 20-foot containers and a stack of 40-foot containers does not exceed 90 t in the room and 25 or 30 t on deck may.

The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice ( ice class "E").
