The Valentinsberg ( Polish Walentkowy Wierch ) ( Czech / Slovak Valentková ) is a mountain on the Polish-Slovak border in the High Tatras with 2156 m npm in the Walentkowa Grań massif .
Location and surroundings
The state border runs over the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains , on which the Walentkowy Wierch is located. Below the summit are two valleys, the Fünfseental , specifically its hanging valley Kegelkar , in the north and the Smrecinertal ( Dolina Ciemnosmreczyńska ) in the south.
From the top of Smooth Berg ( Gładki Wierch ) in the west of the Valentine Mountain is the mountain pass Smooth Pass ( gładka Przełęcz separated) from which the western summit Valentine's Bastion ( Niżnia Walentkowa Baszta ) through the mountain pass Lower Valentin notch .
etymology
The Polish name Walentkowy Wierch can be translated as Valentinsberg.
Flora and fauna
Despite its height, the Valentinsberg has a colorful flora and fauna. Numerous plant species occur, especially high alpine flowers and grasses. In addition to insects and mollusks and birds of prey, marmots and chamois also visit the summit.

tourism
There is currently no marked hiking trail on the Walentkowy Wierch . The planned ridge path was never completed. However, a yellow marked hiking trail leads north below the summit from the mountain pass Szpiglasowa Przełęcz into the valley Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich . The mountain huts Schronisko PTTK nad Morskim Okiem and Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów Polskich are suitable as a starting point for this .
