Şadi Üçüncü

Şadi Üçüncü (born July 20, 1945 or 1948 in Arhavi , Turkey ; † February 18, 2004 in Germany ) was a German - Turkish writer , poet , artist and graduate in business administration .

Life

After graduating from high school and studying in Istanbul , Üçüncü came to Germany in 1974, where he received his doctorate in business administration.

Üçüncü published both scientific books and numerous volumes of poetry. The repeatedly revised and reissued volume The Position of Women in Turkish Society (1979) was his first. This was followed by a number of other specialist publications on social issues relating to Turkey and Germany, e.g. B. Factor hindering integration: xenophobia in the Federal Republic of Germany (1984), an "overview of the theory of xenophobia". From 1986 the first volumes of poetry appeared in German: Friend, give me your hand and strangers in me (1988). In addition, he also published non-fiction books: his main interest in scientific work was the effect of the structure of economic industry in industrialized countries on people.

The poems Üçüncüs are in the tradition of peace poetry, especially Poems for Peace (1991) and The Strangeness in Europe. Poems against hatred of foreigners and about love (1994). Love was another big theme of the poet (for example, Together with You , 2003), who also painted pictures on the subject of love and world peace .

Üçüncü, who succumbed to cancer in 2004, campaigned heavily for his long-standing hometown of Münster as the cultural capital .
