Žlahtina is a white wine from the municipality of Vrbnik on Krk ( Croatia ). The grape variety used for the wine is an autochthonous variety that only grows in the area around Vrbnik in the eastern center of the island and near Crikvenica on the mainland. Žlahtina and other white wines from Vrbnik are known for their mineral character.
As Bela Zlathnina and Zlahtina in Slovenia (→ Viticulture in Slovenia ) the grape variety Gutedel is also known. It is not known whether the Croatian Žlahtina grape variety is related to the Gutedel. However, due to the late ripening of the Žlahtina variety, a connection seems unlikely.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The young leaves are hairless.
- The conical to cylindrical grape is large to very large and very dense. The round berries are medium to large in size and have a whitish color.
The grape variety ripens about 30 days after the Gutedel and is therefore considered to ripen late in international comparison. Because it shoots early, it is sensitive to late spring frosts. In addition, it is sensitive to downy mildew and gray mold rot . Žlahtina is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ).
