... and not yet sixteen is a German exploitation film from 1967.

action

The film begins with a raunchy, daring chanson, “Sexy and not yet 16”, which the singer Helen Sheira performs in a nightclub. A guest misbehaves. For such cases, Johnny is there, a shirt-sleeved guy who takes care of the chansonettes as a manager and personally promotes the boor to the door. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old Rosy, a child who has escaped care, wanders through the night streets of the big city in search of protection and a place to sleep. She meets Helen and her companions when they want to end the evening elsewhere after the bar stay. Rolf, who belongs to Helens' entourage and can usually be found by her side, takes care of the girl. First of all, the little one finds accommodation in his student apartment. It takes some time for the two to get closer. However, Rosy's youthful charms soon also call on men who are far less attentive.

Johnny, who doesn't really feel fulfilled as Helen's artistic director, has nothing good in mind with the underage girl: he pretends to be particularly understanding and helpful towards her and even takes her to the six-day race. In truth, however, he plans to introduce them to wealthy men who are willing to pay a lot of money for their bodies. Rosy is supposed to work as a whore for him. With one of the racing cyclists, Johnny has already picked out her first suitor. Johnny plans to then blackmail the men he takes Rosy to with the fact that they have committed fornication with a minor. Rosy now has to endure so much humiliation and sexual abuse, in the end she is even raped. The blackmailed racing cyclist does not want to be removed from Johnny and strikes without further ado. The inconspicuous Rolf, who also has to take a lot of beatings, tries to be Rosy's savior in an emergency. In a showdown between Rolf, Johnny and the blackmailed cyclist at a freight yard, a terrible accident occurs.

Production notes

The film ... and not yet sixteen was the directorial debut of Erwin C. Dietrich's regular cameraman Peter Baumgartner and was premiered on March 1, 1968.

The film should actually be called "Sex and not yet 16", but the director Baumgartner was banned from this title by the control authorities. That didn't prevent the director from having Helen Vita appear with the chanson "Sexy and not yet 16" right at the beginning, so that the viewer recognized the direction of the film from the very first scene. The director Baumgartner was the nephew of the composer Walter Baumgartner , who in turn was married to Vita at that time.

The film debutante Rosemarie Heinikel, who played 16-year-old Rosy and who later became part of the underground culture of the Federal Republic of Germany under the pseudonym Rosy-Rosy, was actually 21 years old. Dietrich had discovered it when he was working on a rented editing desk in Zurich and running through the improperly removed roll of film from the previous user, Rosy-Rosy's friend. When he saw her, he decided to use her in his next flick and gave her the female lead.

criticism

In the lexicon of the international film it says: “Formally primitive, theatrically amateurish mixture of sex and crime, garnished with bland, vulgar chansons by Helen Vita.” Even the Protestant film observer does not believe in the film : “Blackmail and pimping with a 15 year old in a German film that is geared towards the lowest level. To be rejected. "
