(1192) Prisma is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on March 17, 1931 by the German astronomer F. K. Arnold Schwassmann in Bergedorf .
The name of the asteroid is derived from the optical instrument prism and was chosen in honor of the Bergedorf spectral catalog.
