(1671) Chaika is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on October 3, 1934 by the Russian astronomer Grigory Nikolayevich Neuimin in Simejis .
The asteroid was named in honor of the Russian cosmonaut Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova . Chaika is the Russian word for seagull .
