(1951) Lick is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 26 July 1949 by the American astronomer Carl A. Wirtanen at Lick Observatory was discovered.

The asteroid bears the name of the American science sponsor James Lick , who financially made the construction of the Lick Observatory possible.
