(1968) Mehltretter is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on January 29, 1932 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory at the University of Heidelberg .

The asteroid is named after the German astronomer Johannes Peter Mehltretter .
