(2102) Tantalus is an asteroid of the Apollo-type , which on 27 December 1975 by Charles T. Kowal at the Mount Palomar was discovered. The approximately three kilometer large object orbits the sun on a rather eccentric (e = 0.30) orbit inclined by 64 degrees against the ecliptic once every 1.476 years.
The asteroid was named after the figure of Tantalus from Greek mythology.
