(21678) Lindner is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 5, 1999 by the German amateur astronomers Gerhard Lehmann and Jens Kandler at the Drebach observatory ( IAU code 113) in Saxony .

The asteroid was named after the German astronomer, teacher and author Klaus Lindner (* 1935), who wrote numerous specialist books on astronomy .
